Additional Information
Basic Daily Fee
Everyone pays a basic daily fee. This fee helps the facility pay for your day-to-day services such as meals, cleaning, facilities management, and laundry.
You pay this fee directly to your aged care home, on a monthly basis. The fee applies for every night you are a resident, including nights when you might be away — for example, on social*, hospital and emergency leave. (*leave is capped).
This fee is set out by the Government and equates to 85% of the full pension. The fee amount will be reviewed by the government on the 20th of March and 20th of September each year in line with the pension increase. Everyone in aged care is required to pay this fee unless they are experiencing financial hardship which will be determined by Centrelink.
Non-Clinical Care Contribution & Hotelling Contribution
The Non-Clinical Care Contribution (NCCC) fee is in addition to the Basic Daily Fee for those who are financially able to pay, in accordance with the government’s assessment. The Department of Human Services reviews your income and assets to determine this fee, which will be shown in your Services Australia or DVA Assessment letter.
The maximum NCCC is $105.30 per day or $135,318.69 over a lifetime (these amounts are indexed and may change over time).
We recommend obtaining independent financial advice, and we can provide contacts for specialists if needed. While your official assessment is being completed, you can use the NCCC calculator on My Aged Care – (http://www.myagedcare.gov.au/howmuch-will-i-pay )to get an estimate of the cost.
The Hotelling Contribution fee is in addition to the Basic Daily Fee for those who are financially able to pay, in accordance with the government’s assessment. This contribution helps cover the extra costs of daily living services. The Department of Human Services reviews your income and assets to determine this fee, which will be shown in your Services Australia or DVA Assessment letter.
The maximum Hotelling Contribution is currently $22.15 per day (this amount is indexed and may change over time).
Accommodation Fees
This payment will differ at each home based upon the room type you choose. The Companion Superior Rooms refundable accommodation deposit (RAD) is $370,000. Instead of paying a refundable lump sum amount, you can choose to pay a non-refundable daily accommodation payment (DAP). The DAP amount you pay is based on a daily rate; as agreed with your service provider in line with the current MPIR (maximum permissible interest rate). The MPIR is a government-set interest rate which is used to calculate the non-refundable daily accommodation payment based on the room price. You also have the option to pay using a combination of refundable lump sum and non-refundable daily payments, this is when you combine the two types of payments to meet your costs. You can split the combination any way you choose. For example, for an agreed room price of $370,000, you could choose to pay $185,000 as a refundable lump sum, and also pay a reduced non-refundable daily payment.
Accommodation Fees
The below calculator will display the amount you will pay if you choose to pay for your accommodation by DAP or whether you choose to pay using a combination of Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) and non-refundable daily accommodation payment (DAP). Enter your deposit (RAD) to calculate your daily fees or leave the section empty to calculate the total non-refundable accommodation payment. Your RAD should not exceed $370,000. A part payment deposit will lower your (DAP) *
